Vietnam War Protest, 1970

In 1970, students at MWC staged their own protest, a part of a nationwide movement protesting the Vietnam War.
It was also in 1970 that the college became officially coed for the first time. Men were now allowed to enroll in classes at the college. Mary Washington College was the women’s teaching college of the University of Virginia until 1970.
